Better Choices
BETTER futures

Equipping young people to make better relationship choices.

About Us

Love Matters aims to support young people, schools, parents and youth workers in addressing the issues raised by the sexualisation of our culture, particularly with regards the increased influence of pornography. Our work will offer support, information and advice in this area with a specific focus on young people. We will offer educational opportunities to raise awareness of these issues and the damaging effects of early pornography exposure. We will primarily look to build relationships with schools and youth groups to create a platform for these opportunities.

We want to support a generation of young people to navigate the current culture by providing them with the information, facts and tools that will empower them to make positive relationship choices leading to better futures. We want to educate young people of the damaging effects and addictiveness of pornography and its links to sex trafficking. We also will provide links to other organisations where they can seek support and help with dealing with these matters.

Karen are Kate are also associates with the Naked Truth Project and are trained to deliver their material in schools and other youth based contexts.

If you would like to find out more about the project, or how to support us, then please get in touch with us via our contact page.

Meet The Team

Kate Mitchell

Kate lives in Glasgow with her husband and 2 young children and has carried a burden for supporting young people in making positive relationship choices for many years. Having experience of working with CARE's Evaluate schools program, exploring the topic of sex and relationships, Kate has continued to see a need for this type of material in Scotland. Love Matters aims to deliver relevant, accurate and informative material in a Scottish context. Kate is delighted about connecting with Karen and being able to bring dynamic and innovative lessons to young people. Kate firmly believes that if we help young people to value themselves they will value the decisions they make about their relationships and futures.

Karen Campbell

Karen has been employed as a youth worker since 2009 following 10 years of voluntary youth work experience. In her work with schools and local youth groups Karen has seen a need to address the impact of an over sexualised culture on young people and has worked with Kate and our team of trustees to set up Love Matters. Karen also works part time for the Wheel Trust in the West End of Glasgow, which is an associate trust of SU Scotland.

Jamie and his wife Linda Pastor the Glasgow Vineyard Church in the West End of Glasgow. They have two adult children. Jamie is passionate about the development of young people and is reflected in the church as well as the ministries and charities they support. Rhona Gallacher

Rhona lives in Kirkintilloch with her family and currently works part time as an accountant with a Glasgow based accountancy practice. Rhona has 15 years accountancy experience and has spent the past 6 years specialising in the charity sector. She is excited to be involved with Love Matters after hearing Kate and Karen's passion for such an important project. As well as being a Trustee, Rhona is also our Treasurer.

Stewart Bell

Stewart was born and raised in Glasgow and lives there with his wife. He is a solicitor working in the justice sector and has been practicing for 6 years. His work has given him a first-hand insight into the damaging effect of pornography on relationships, and the dangers associated with teenagers and young adults failing to understand the concept of free and informed consent within the context of sexual relationships. Having experienced this, he is really excited about the aim of Love Matters. Stewart is a keen footballer and drummer, and regularly plays drums in his church worship band. He is also a bit of a cinema fanatic, having once seen 6 movies back to back in one day!
